R.I.P. Tout Droit Aller, Nov. 22 2010 - Dec. 3 2018
Friends, I’m writing this note to thank you all for posting your content or following my blog on Tumblr. I won’t delete this blog - I would have deleted all the posts and just left this one, but Tumblr’s mass editing features are crap, likely due to the fact that all feature improvements came to a complete stop shortly after Yahoo bought it. I’ve posted almost 32,000 times here, and I just don’t have the time to select every single one to delete it.
So, on December 17th, I don’t know if Tumblr will completely delete this blog, or just delete all the posts that it deems “adult”. Being that the majority of those 32,000 posts include, ahem, “female-presenting nipples”, and/or other “female-presenting” body parts, as well as, I feel it important to point out, more than a few male-indicating organs, chances are good that everything will go. (That’s irony for you: when I came up with the gibberish fake-French title for this blog, I was intending to say “everything must go”, but ended up saying “go right”, which indeed Tumblr seems to doing.)
That being the case, this post and the blog containing it may only be around for the next two weeks. I will no longer use this platform at that time, and there is no other place where I will post anything like what I’ve done here. I’ve tried to keep myself off of here, because the truth is, I’m just another shlubby white guy from the suburbs, with IRL problems to deal with, and no one to share my truly private side with, other than all you you folks. That’s no real loss, as very little of this was my own work. The real loss will be for the creators who have spent years putting their body and soul out there for the whole world to see. I feel proud of the fact that I chose only to repost works for which I could credit the photographer and/or model, and feel sad that I will have fewer opportunities to interact with their work.
When I started this blog, I put together a goofy manifesto. I said I was going to repost art and avoid porn, but the truth of the matter is that in the eyes of the ones whose opinions truly mattered, it was all porn.
Capitalism only has use for art to the extent that it can profit from it, so Tumblr will likely continue to make money for its corporate masters in the way it prefers to do so - namely, by allowing people to provide advertisements for its intellectual properties without having to compensate them for doing so. So, buckle down for non-stop Supernatural memes, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
It was fun while it lasted! Thanks again for traveling with me - nearly 14,000 of you!
Be good to one another.
Best,
Tout Droit Aller
You will be missed my friend.
Thanks to each if you in this community for sharing your amazing work over the years. I close this chapter of my life with fondness.
